چکیده

Depression is a psychiatric disorder that negatively affects how person feels, thinks, and acts. Several studies have reported positive association between vitamin D (VD) deficiency depression. Therefore, we aimed to examine the effects of intraperitoneal injection VD3, fluoxetine (antidepressant), combination VD3 + on rat model chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). A total 40 male Wistar rats (224–296 g) were divided into five groups (n = 8 each) as follows: (1) control group, (2) CUMS (3) group received (10 μg/kg), (4) (5 mg/kg), (5) both μg/kg) mg/kg). The was produced by exposing frequent social physical stressors for 21 days. In addition, blood samples collected determine corticosterone serum VD levels. Also, behavioral tests conducted, including sucrose preference test (SPT), forced swimming (FST), tail suspension (TST), open field (OFT), elevated plus maze (EPM). Our results show had similar depressive behavior when measured three tests, namely SPT, FST, OFT (p < 0.001). Additionally, protective effect against depression fluoxetine. Corticosterone levels lower in than 0.000). conclusion, has anxiety behaviors rats.

Effects of troxerutin on anxiety- and depressive-like behaviors induced by chronic mild stress in adult male rats

Objective(s):Chronic stress has been linked to the pathophysiology of mood disorders including anxiety and depression. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of troxerutin (TRX), as a flavonol, on stress-induced anxiety and depression.Materials and Methods: 56 animals were randomly divided into seven groups (n=8 per group) as follows: control, saline, TRX 50, TRX 150, TRX 300, Diazep...

Fish oil supplementation alleviates depressant-like behaviors and modulates lipid profiles in rats exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress

BACKGROUND Patients with major depressive disorder have a higher prevalence and incidence of dyslipidemia. However, clinical studies concerning the association between lipid levels and depression are inconsistent. Adipokines (like leptin and adiponectin) and ghrelin are strongly associated with lipid metabolism. Fish oil, which is reported to possess antidepressant effect, also have beneficial ...

Acupuncture Activates ERK-CREB Pathway in Rats Exposed to Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress

Extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)-cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) signal pathway has been implicated in the pathogenesis of depression. There is growing evidence that acupuncture in traditional Chinese medicine has antidepressant-like effect. However, the effect of acupuncture on ERK-CREB pathway remains unknown. In our study, the antidepressant-like effect of acupuncture...

Mechanism Underlying Acupuncture-Ameliorated Depressive Behaviors by Enhancing Glial Glutamate Transporter in Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress (CUMS) Rats

BACKGROUND Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a recurrent mental illness worldwide. The glutamatergic neurotransmission system is now a target for antidepressant therapy because it takes part in synaptic plasticity and cognition in physical condition and has a potential excitatory neurotoxicity in pathological conditions. Glial glutamate transporter EAAT2 performs 90% of Glu neurotransmission. ...

The Impacts of Swimming Exercise on Hippocampal Expression of Neurotrophic Factors in Rats Exposed to Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress

Depression is associated with stress-induced neural atrophy in limbic brain regions, whereas exercise has antidepressant effects as well as increasing hippocampal synaptic plasticity by strengthening neurogenesis, metabolism, and vascular function. A key mechanism mediating these broad benefits of exercise on the brain is induction of neurotrophic factors, which instruct downstream structural a...
